About
The Academy of Sport Management is a unique blog that offers current daily news and information in the world of sport management and marketing.
Our intention is to offer you the latest information in the sports management world, whether it be business or academia. As two individuals who teach university-level sport management courses, most of the material will come from a teacher’s perspective.
While we do provide updates and news within the sport management world, we do so in a manner that furthers your understanding of new sport management concepts and ideas. Of course, we do all of this in a fun and light-hearted manner. We by no means claim to be journalists (no offense to our journalist friends!), so bear with us as we try our best to be informational, but at the same time amusing and/or comical in our writings!
We hope you enjoy the site. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Who We Are
Brandon Brown
Khalid Ballouli
Brandon Brown is currently a PhD student at Texas A&M University studying sport management and marketing. His experience in the field includes working with several sport industries; particularly notable is his favorite team, the New York Mets. His noteworthy bias towards the Mets is only outweighed by his love for Florida State University, where Brandon received his undergraduate degree in sport management. After getting a taste of Tallahassee, Brandon went on to earn his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. By working and studying in the field of sport management and marketing, Brandon offers a unique and knowledgeable viewpoint on all aspects of sport.
Dr. Khalid Ballouli (aka ‘KB’) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina. A former Aggie baseball player, he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas A&M University. His research and teaching interests focus on integrated marketing communications in the sport and entertainment industry. Prior to working in the academic field, Dr. Ballouli played six years of professional baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers…he dares you to step up to the plate against him. KB still remains active in his community by helping local youth sport organizations foster skill and character development.
Joe Pederson
Joe Pederson is a PhD student at Texas A&M University studying sport management. While his wide range of experience in the sports world has provided him with several interests in the business of sport, his primary interest surrounds sport communication and the evolution of new media in marketing. As his friends like to call him, Joe is a true “Colorado guy”. Not only did Joe earn his undergraduate degree in communication and media studies from the University of Northern Colorado, but he also worked several years in the professional hockey industry. If Joe’s interest in hockey wasn’t enough, his interests towards snowboarding, fishing and traveling should be enough to profess his Colorado nature.
