Sometimes I run stories for the business aspect, and sometimes I run stories because I think they are truly interesting. When the two combine, I know I have a hit on my hands. This is one of those posts – a combination of sport, business, something that is both new and unique, and something I find terribly interesting…and at the same time, it can fall into the Sport Product of the week category … Christmas has come early!
Levi’s and Nike have teamed up!…and that’s just the tip of the ice berg. The jean company hasn’t really been doing too well, and has been in desperate need for a pick up; and who better to pick you up then Nike. It’s like being in elementary school and losing your daily kickball battle at recess. Then one day, out of the blue, your big brother who’s in college comes to recess and says he’s on your team…game over!
Don’t worry, I wont continue to astound you with more superb metaphors, I’ll just give you some more details about the two brands and why they’re getting together.
If the association between the two brands wasn’t cool enough in itself, you will find it that much more interesting that the two brands are teaming up to get out of their natural realm, and reach for something that’s slightly foreign to both of them – skateboarding!
By combining Nike’s dry fit technology (I’m already sold) with Levi ‘s Denim, the two companies have come up with the ‘511 Skateboarding Collection’. Amazing!…and for so many reasons. People know the name Levi’s, and definitely know the name Nike, so the two coming together to help the action sports industry will likely be a hit for consumers. Furthermore, have you not seen hipsters these days?! Skinny jeans are in!
But they don’t stop with just jeans! The tag team is also coming out with limited edition Nike skateboard shoes, and the ever famous trucker jacket. To make it a party, the team has come out with a new logo, that, I have to say, is fairly impressive.
An all around amazing job, and Im definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes! Oh, and what was that? Do both Nike and Levi’s make amzing commercials? …Of course they do, and of course the commercial they have for their new campaign is pretty sick. …And of course to add more luster (as if there wasn’t enough already) it features pro skater Omar Salazar… Enjoy!
